The award of a recent grant has opened the way for renovation of the site at Chedworth. In this connection it is proposed to establish a website which will incorporate the results of numerous unpublished excavations that have taken place since the villa was acquired by the National Trust in 1924. This can be used to add new data as they become available. Recent excavations have revealed evidence of mosaics, and thus of high-status activity, in the previously unexplored east end of the south range. Including the results of a survey of the pavements that have been reburied, it is now thought that Chedworth had at least 20 mosaics. |
