The authors challenge S.S. Frere's late-4th-century dating of mosaics in Building XXVII.2 at Verulamium, claiming that the coins on which he based his dating were intruders from later levels. They conclude that Frere's picture of vigorous urban activity continuing into the 5th century has to be revised. |
