A house discovered in 1989 in the central gardens of Piazza Ferrari was opened to the public in a modern glass-sided building in 2007. Dated to the second half of the 2nd century AD, and identified from a cache of 150 surgical implements as the house of a surgeon, it was decorated with brightly coloured wall-painings and with geometric and figured mosaics. Immediately to the south was a grand late-antique house with polychrome geometric mosaics. |
