Para a Historia da Conservação e Restauro do Mosaico Romano em Portugal. Manuel Heleno e a equipa de restauro de mosaicos do Opificio delle Pietre Dure de Florença

The discovery in 1947 of the Roman villa of Torre de Palma (Monforte) resulted in a team of Italian technicians being invited to Portugal to conduct the lifting, consolidation, restoration and reassembling of the mosaics in the Ethnology Museum of Dr. Leite de Vasconcelos. The documents belonging to the Archives of Manuel Heleno, acquired by this Museum in 1998, demonstrate the commitment of Manuel Heleno to bring to Portugal the team from Florence, and the work developed by the team and the legacy left by that work. A document from the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, in Florence, also illustrates the expenses, consolidation and restoration of the mosaics from Torre de Palma that were worked by the Italian team.
