A well preserved mosaic was discovered in 2001 behind the line of shops on the northern side of the Great Colonnade. The original hall paved with mosaic has about 8 m wide and 9 m long. Small party of the mosaic pavement present elaborate borders surrounding rectangular figurative panels:
- a he-gout standing in front of a tree;
- two female griffins resting one paw on severed bull’s head;
- two panthers flanking a kantharos.
One panel, at the southern and of the mosaic pavement seems evidently to be a reparation; it consists of two hands with outstretched fingers, uniformly red. |
