Rescue excavations carried out by Usak Museum revealed a gymnasion. The apsis of the building is decorated with an opus tessellatum pavement with figural depictions. On both sides of the pavement, two female figures, personifications of “Othesia” and “Gymnasiarkhia” are depicted. The central panel consists of 6 young athletes. The mosaic inscription in this panel shows that athletes from Alexandria have attended a festival in Akmoneia. |
