Excavation at the basilica paved with mosaics. The polychrome opus tesselatum pavements consists of geometric and floral motivs and figural depictions. Two phases of the building have been identified. In phase 1, the building had a basilica plan with 2x4 columns. At a later period, the eastern wall of the building collapsed together with the apsis. Therefore the church had to be rebuilt in smaller dimension (2 x 2 columns) and a new apsis was built further to the west, on the mosaic pavement which originally decorated the interior. |
