The excavation of a Late Roman villa (the so-called Slope House) has been continued. The villa consists of six rooms in a row, all opening to a gallery in the south (32,9 x 4,3m) decorated with polychrome geometric mosaics (opus tessellatum). Room nr. 1 in the western end of the row is paved with a geometric mosaic depicting a bird in the central field, the walls are decorated with wall paintings. Room nr. 3 has a monumental entrance with two coloumns and is paved with opus sectile. The walls of this room are covered with marble slabs. Room nr. 4 is paved with geometric mosaics. In the east of the gallery, room nr. 7 is also decorated with geometric mosaics. |
