2003 Yılı Laodikeia Antik Kenti Kazısı

Cardo of the city (the so-called Syrian Street). Area east of the Caracalla Nympheum has been excavated. Galleries are 4,10 – 4,20m deep and are paved with geometric opus sectile. Four different kinds of marble have been used (dark blue, white, red and veined marbles). Three fragments of mosaic revealed in front of the arched entrance on the Syrian Street have been lifted and restored. Central agora situated south of the cardo (the Syrian Street). The galleries that surround the three sides of the building are ca. 6m deep and are paved with geometric opus sectile. Septimius Severus Nympheum / A Nympheum. Travertin blocks decorated with polychrome mosaics (opus tessellatum) using glass and stone tesserae found in the nympheum pool.
