Remains of a Middle Byzantinian church (period of Laskaris Dynasty) in Başpınar. The floor of the central aisle is decorated with polycrome opus sectile, made of colored stones and precious marbles (such as porphyr and serpentino). The choice of patterns and the homogeneous concept are signs of careful work.
Loose pieces of opus sectile pavement have been fixed in place. |
