Gerontikon, excavations in the southern stoa. The stoa must have been originally paved with mosaics but they are completely destroyed mainly due to the agricultural activities in the area.
Agora, excavations at northern stoa. The opus sectile pavement which was revealed in trench nr. AKP2 in 2006, probably continues to the west but is completely destroyed. Stylistic characteristics of the opus sectile (5th / 6th c. A.D.) suggest later alterations in this area.
Restoration : Mosaics decorating the small passage leading from gerontikon to the agora have been restored. |
