Report on the 2004 Excavation and Restoration Campaign at Sagalassos

Building on the northeast corner of the upper agora : Seven phases are proposed for the building. Pieces of a dismantled mosaic floor (opus tessellatum) found in the foundation fill of the wall dating to phase 2 (late 1st / early 2nd c. A.D.) This mosaic probably belongs to the original floor of the building (phase 1 : Early Imperial period). Domestic Area : Late Roman dwelling. Mention of opus tessellatum floors in rooms nr. XVII and XXXV (vestibules of the large reception room) as well as in room nr. XVIII (a residential chamber reached by room nr. XVII). Roman Baths : The room which has been been used as an apodyterium in the later periods was decorated with polychrome geometric opus sectile probably in 4th c. A.D. The original function of the room remains unknown. It has been rearrangement as apodyterium in the 5th c. A.D.
