Pompeiopolis (Paflagonya) 2006 Yılı Çalışmaları

Mention of several building remains with mosaic floors (opus tessellatum) on the southeastern slopes of Zımbıllı Tepe, originally found during the rescue excavations in 1950’s and 1984. Mention of a small bath with marine mosaics south of the building in parcel 23 (Villa 1), probably belonging to a private residence. Examination and excavation of the building – probably a Roman villa – in parcel nr. 23. In 1984, the mosaics decorating the central part of the villa as well as a mosaic inscription welcoming the visitor had been revealed and brought to Kastamonu Museum (Room A in the new plan). In 2006, excavations revealed a new unit (room E in the new plan) decorated with geometric and floral mosaics (opus tessellatum) with a female figure depicted in the central panel. Probably late 4th / early 5th c. A.D.
