Tralleis 2002 Yılı Kazı ve Restorasyon Çalışmaları

Excavations carried out in the bath – gymnasium complex. South of the hall paved with mosaics (opus tessellatum) which was revealed in 2001, a caldarium with hypocaust system and a latrina paved with opus sectile have been unearthed (trench code : GYM-F1). In the residential area, remains of a geometric opus sectile floor have been found in the lower levels of room nr. 35 (trench code : GYM-B3). In the same area, a representative reception hall (room nr. 42) has been revealed in a 4th c. Roman villa (trench code : GYM-B4 and GYM-B5). The polychrome mosaic (opus tessellatum) depicts geometric and floral motifs ; the walls are covered by marble slabs which rest almost directly on the mosaic pavement.
