Three mosaic panels acquired by a London art-dealer (part of a black-ground frieze with a scroll containing a Cupid grotesque and animals; a group of Bacchus flanked by a maenad and a satyr; and a scene of a panther attacking a boar) are discussed. All are probably modern forgeries, and the leopard and boar composition looks like a mirror-image copy of a group in the Great Hunt mosaic at Apamea. |
