résumé de l'AIEMA
:
The article deals with the results of the archaeological research done in the quarter of St. Theodor. This quarter is situated in the northeast corner of the urban core of Pula (Pola). The excavated surface covers 4 000 square metres. Rescue archaeological research has been carried out there from the spring of 2005 onwards. Seven principal phases were detected. These included the excavated Renaissance Church of St. Theodor with the associated female Benedictine convent, the Early Christian church of St. Lucy with associated objects, a Roman public thermae, Hercules’ sanctuary and a domus. The domus is the main subject of the article. Archaeological investigations revealed 750 metres of a lavishly adorned house (domus). This part represents at least half of the total surface of the house. Part of peristyle was surrounded by an entrance hall, and a reception room (œcus), a bedroom (cubiculum), a dining room (triclinium) with an adjacent store, a kitchen (culina) and a bathroom were all discovered. In room P12-04 was a peculiar niche, painted white, with a votive inscription made in mosaic. A black and white mosaic displays a tabula ansata with the name of the divinity of health. The mosaics are preserved over an area of 170 square metres in total; they are bichrome in the corridors, triclinium and bedroom, black and white combined with polychrome geometrical motifs in the œcus.
