The author describes his policy for representing missing elements in illustrations of incomplete mosaics, and takes the opportunity of publishing the complete version of his reconstruction of a mosaic from Castle Copse (Wiltshire), from which some lines were deleted in the earlier publication in Roman Mosaic of Britain II: South-West Britain (2005). He goes on to consider the reconstruction and visual presentation of missing parts of some other pavements, notably the Orpheus mosaic from Barton Farm, Cirencester (Gloucestershire). |
