The review contains a report, by Briege Williams (p. 245), on the mosaic from the Roman villa at Spoonley Wood, Sudeley. Survey, recording and documentary research indicate that the extant mosaic at the site is a late-19th-century replica of the original pavement (discovered in 1882). It is set on a cement base and most of the tesserae appear to have been machine-cut. |
