Late Byzantine remains near Shiqmona : a monastery, a cemetery and a winepress

The chapel (Plan 2) comprises a large room with a mosaic floor (fig. 3), and north of it is another room with remains of yet another mosaic (fig. 4). Area D1, small fragments of a mosaic and tesserae thereof were found in and around a coffin; from L403 (fig. 18), a few fragments have a pattern including what may be an eye indicating the use of figurative and not just geometric and floral patterns. In the winepress (plan 9), the treading floor was covered with a white industrial mosaic (L9) [fig. 31]. The floor of L4 is paved with a white mosaic.
