Water features, the atrium, and the coastal setting of Oplontis Villa A at Torre Annunziata

This report explains fieldwork carried out during 2009 and 2010 on the site of Oplontis Villa A at Torre Annunziata. Much of this fieldwork concentrated on gardens and water features. The authors state that much of the villa’s pre-A.D. 79 history was intentionally buried in ancient times or hidden by later additions. There are brief references to some opera sectilia (p. 376 [fig. colour 9], 378 and 381) and pieces of a mosaic pavement (p. 380). The authors take also into account the many fragments of wall-painting (p. 376 [fig. colour 10], 378, 379 [fig. 11] and 380).
