2010 Yılı Isparta ve Burdur İlleri Yüzey Araştırmaları

Survey in the provinces of Burdur and Isparta. Mention of a mosaic pavement that was revealed during rescue excavations of the Isparta Museum in Gavur Yıkığı near Çobanisa Village, 20 km east of Isparta. The pavement decorates a room, 6 m x 7.50 m in size. The mosaic consists of geometric panels executed in red, green, white, gray, yellow, and black tesserae; the border is decorated with a guilloche band. The Greek inscription preserved in the southeastern corner of the mosaic has been studied by G. Labarre. Probably from 3rd-4th c. A.D. Mention of a mosaic pavement that has been revealed during illicit excavations in Balıklıbaşı, 5 km northwest of Harmanören Village. The geometric mosaic, which forms the pavement of a church, is among the best examples of its kind in the region (fig. 3). Rescue excavations are being organized by the Isparta Museum in order to completely reveal and document the mosaic.
