Mosaics decorating the basilica in its first phase consist of a dark ornamental composition (fig. 5). During the basilica’s expansion, more complex polychrome decoration was used. Later additions are still more colourful and include bird motifs (fig. 11). Mention of three mosaic inscriptions decorating the north-western edge of the first church’s presbyterium. The first inscription contains the deacon Epituchanos’vow (fig. 10), the second one is difficult to interpret, and the third one gives a series of names of donors.
