Excavations at the Protobyzantine building near the Roman tomb, east of the aghiasma on St Philipp Hill, revealed a mosaic floor decorated with a guilloche pattern and a central medallion depicting fish (5th c. A.D.) [fig. 12]. The same excavations also revealed an opus sectile floor consisting of geometric patterns executed in black and white marble. The building has been identified as a three nave church from the Middle Byzantine period. |
