Kadıoğlu Köyü 2010 Yılı Mozaik Kurtarma Kazısı

In 2010, a large room identified as a reception hall was revealed. This hall is paved with a polychrome mosaic (opus tessellatum). The central panel of the mosaic is missing. The borders (moving inward) consist of: 1) a wave band and floral motifs made of white and dark grey tesserae, 2) twenty different hunting scenes with Nereidsereids in the corners surrounded by guilloche bands and 3) four bearded masks and spiral vegetal motifs inhabited by Eros, lions and boars. The rectangular panel (1 m x 5 m) situated in the north of the central panel represents a fishing scene with two boats on each side, each occupied by three Erotes as well as another boat in the middle carrying three Psyches. One can see fish, barnacles, an octopus and an eel in the background.
