Excavation at the palaestra of the Roman Baths. A mosaic decorating the southern portico was unearthed. It has a total length of 44.28 m and a maximum width of 5.72 m. The mosaic consists of 13 panels decorated with geometric patterns surrounded by a wave band in the inner and outer borders. Another mosaic pavement was revealed northwest of the palaestra. This pavement has features similar to the mosaics decorating the palaestra and probably belongs to the same period. The function of this room has not yet been identified. |
