Excavations in the church of Andriake B. A side aisle is paved with mosaic (opus tesselatum). It was observed that the nave was originally also paved with mosaics and then repaved with stone plaques in a later period. In some areas, mosaics have been spotted beneath the stone plaques. In the west part of the building and in the area northeast of the nave, the floor was paved with opus sectile showing stars inscribed in circles and triangles. The altar was encircled with an ornamental band (14 cm wide) made of opus sectile. |
