Excavation of the Roman Baths. Mention of a mosaic inscription in Frigidarium 1, dated to the 6th c. A.D. Around 500 A.D., mosaic and opus sectile floors in the Roman Baths were destroyed due to a major earthquake. During the renovation, the floors were paved with a geometric mosaic in black and white tesserae which extends to the pedestals carrying emperors’ statues. Excavations at the City Mansion. Mention of polychrome mosaic pavements with geometric patterns decorating Rooms LVI and LX. |
