Mosaics first discovered in 1991, during an excavation initiated in Amisos by the Directorate of the Samsun Museum. One of the most significant harbor cities in the northern region of Turkey, the ancient settlement of Samsun is situated northwest of the modern city, perched on Toraman Hill at a distance of 3 km from the city center. The mosaics are supposed to have been made in the 5th-6th century A.D. They paved a room of 6 m x 15 m. |
