Survey of Byzantine settlements in Ezine, Bayramiç and Ayvacık (Southern Troas).
During the investigation of the stone-paved road south of Ayvacık, a Byzantine church was discovered in 2008 in the bay of Sivrice Burnu (Gümrük) in Balabanlı Village. Remains of marble parapets, window glass and mosaic fragments indicate a rich interior decoration. Based on architectural elements, the church is dated to the 6th c. AD. |
