Excavation of the church. Remains suggest that the building was originally paved with a mosaic floor depicting a lion in pursuit of a gazelle, with accompanying braid-decorations and rosettes. This was later (probably during the phase of Iconoclasm, 8th to 9th century A.D.) replaced by marble plaques. |
