During the removal of earth piled up along the northern edge of the agora in former excavations, Early Byzantine mosaics (in very poor condition) were re-discovered.
Restoration work on a mosaic which was discovered years ago in the west portico of the upper agora. The mosaic bears an inscription which is partly intact and represents a hydraulic organ player which is very rare and curious. The mosaic deteriorated due to a Byzantine-period sewage channel passing through the site. |
