The publication under the general title “Τhe Conservation in Greece: history and evolution” contains: A) The proceedings of a roundtable discussion on the history of conservation work in Greece (origins, evolution and the current issues of the education and professional activities of the conservators) that took place in the Byzantine and Christian Museum (BCM) at Athens on April 10, 2006, and B) A supplementary review of the contribution of the Byzantine and Christian Museum to the initiation and development of conservation in Greece, as documented by the archives of the Central Conservation Laboratory, an institution of the Museum which was operative from 1965 to 1974.
