Konzervatorsko-restauratorski radovi na mozaicima u Naroni/Vidu [The conservation-restoration treatments on the mosaics in Vid] (Borko Vješnica)

Exhibition held at the Archaeological Museum of Split (28th September 2010) and at the Narona Archaeological Museum (4th November 2010). The exhibition and the accompanying catalogue present a review of the most complex conservation-restoration operations performed by the Archaeological Museum of Split in Ancient Narona, present-day Vid, one of the most valuable sites of the south-east Adriatic coast. The history of the Narona/Vid conservation-restoration work started in 1951, when archaeologist Ivan Marović used for the first time improvised techniques in order to protect two newly discovered floor mosaics. About 50 year later, the restorers were dealing with the same mosaics. The conservation work and preparation of the mosaic fragments took place in the temporary archeological deposit in Vid. Complete restoration was conducted from 2003 to 2007, when the Narona Museum was opened to the public.
