Floor mosaic revealed by the villagers in Kayalı Köyü, Osmaniye and documented by the author within Osmaniye Archaeological Survey. Excavation to be carried out by Adana Museum.
The floor mosaic bears a peacock within a panel. The bird is depicted frontally displaying fully its tail feathers. The mosaic is an important contribution to the so far known repertoire of mosaics with peacock depictions from the eastern Mediterranean (5th c. A.D.). |
