Symvoli sti meleti tis oikodomikis istorias tou mnimeiou (Fragments of architectural decoration from the so-called “basilica of Saint Achillios” in Larissa: A contribution to the study of its building history)

During an earlier excavation a floor mosaic was found in the narthex of the so-called “basilica of Saint Achillios” in Larissa. It is a typical example of the floor mosaics of the transitional period between the early Christian and the Byzantine era. The low quality of the technique and the style of the mosaic evoke the sculpture decoration of the second structural phase of the basilica dated to the 8th or early 9th century.
