Close to the Martyrius’ basilica a bath with hypocausts was revealed, which is dated to the Roman period and had undergone partial restoration ever since the early Christian period. In the frigidarium a floor mosaic with geometical motifs was found which is similar to other mosaics of the same area. There is only one difference; a complex of a moray eel and a lobster in green background. It is made with very small glass and stone tessearae of rich colour variations (p. 424, fig. 12). Documentation and conservation work was done on the mosaic of the narthex of the Martyrius’ basilica. |
