Ein Rückblick auf das Mosaik aus Poljanice bei Podujevo (Moesia Superior)

Analysis of figural elements of the mosaic panel from Poljanice-Glavnik, near Podujevo (Kosovo). A presentation of Orpheus, enchanting the animals with his music. Dated to the time of “Constantine’s renaissance,” on the basis of archaeological findings and parallels (fresco from the catacomb of SS. Marcelinus and Peter in Rome, mosaic from Nea Paphos, Kos, Sparta, mosaic of Paris’ Judgement from Betica). Eastern Mediterranean origin of the mosaic.
