During archaeological explorations in Mediana, seven buildings with mosaic floors were registered (a villa with a peristyle, a villa with an octagon, a villa with conchae, an older? villa near the villa with the peristyle, thermae, a “military camp” and an early Christian church). The paper includes a history of the exploration of the buildings with mosaics and dating them on the basis of the archaeological data. Three phases were identified in installing the mosaics at the time of Constantine (317/319-330 - the triclinium of the villa with the peristyle and the older? villa), the fifth and sixth decades of the IV century (villa with the peristyle, villa with the octagon, villa with conchae, thermae) and after 378 (the early Christian church). |
