The paper analyzes the stylistic change in mosaics of Antioch during the 2nd and 3rd c. A.D. The Hadrianic pavements, which were much realistic with their shades of colours, proportioning and details, give place to a less realistic arrangement dictated by reduced colours, elongated figures depicted independent from the background which have a tendency to flatness. |
