The bath-gymnasium of P. Vedius Antoninus that was inaugurated between 147 and 149 AD contains tessellated pavements whose chronological range reaches from the period of the construction to the rebuilding of the complex in the 5th c. AD. From this late antique phase there come also opus sectile pavements that show a multitude of small-scale geometrical compositions. |
