The paper presents the floor mosaics revealed during the excavations in Haleplibahçe, carried out by Sanliurfa Museum in 2007. The mosaics, probably decorating a villa (or palace) bear figural panels. Some of the scenes depict Ktisis, zebra and negro, Kentaur Khiron and Achilleus as well as several other scenes with Achilleus. The border motif of the mosaic decorating the 34 m long corridor consists of horses standing, grazing and running. The very small tessera size and the detailed anatomy of the figures are the main pecularities of Haleplibahçe mosaics. Dating: 5th-6th c. A.D. |
