Mosaics revealed in three different rescue excavations carried out by Hatay Museum.
Site 1: Hatay, Erzin, ancient city of Issos. Opus vermiculatum mosaic revealed decorating the tepidarium of a Late Antique bath. Polychrome with figural and floral depictions. The central panel bears a depiction of Artemis surrounded by animals. Late Antique, probably 5th c. A.D.
Site 2: Hatay, Antakya, Harbiye. Roman baths near the Roman theater. The first mosaic bears the depiction of a female figure and a horse, on white background. The second mosaic bears a central panel with Okeanos only. The panel is surrounded with geometric patterns. Probably 2nd c. A.D.
Site 3: Hatay, Antakya, Yukarı Harbiye. Depiction of [an]Aneôcic in the central panel. The surrounding area is decorated with a grid of flowers. Probably 5th c. A.D. |
