The museum excavation carried out in Kiz Kalesi (Ic Kale) which is a part of the ancient city of Korykos revealed opus tessellatum and opus sectile pavements decorating a church. The opus tessellatum mosaics bear geometric and floral patterns, depictions of birds and a mosaic inscription in a medallion. The bichrome opus sectile floors are decorated with geometric patterns. Dating: 5th- 6th c. A.D. |
