The paper presents the mosaic pavement decorating a church which consists part of a monastery complex in Tatköy. The polychrome pavements is arranged as 15 panels (3 x 5 panels) separated by guilloche bands. The panels are decorated with various animal figures, a refrigerium scene and personification of Ananeosis, all symbolising the renewal of nature at spring and paradise. Based on stylistic grounds, the mosaic is dated to second quarter of 5th c. A.D. |
