In situ preservation of mosaics has increased during the past decade, especially in order to present these pavements as a touristic attraction. Recent experiences show that poorly planned conservation projects accelerate the deterioration of the mosaics and cause them extensive damage. The paper aims to discuss the methods in order to change this tragic result, by applying well-planned maintenance programmes to ensure conservation interventions. |
