résumé de l'AIEMA | :
The basilica of Agioi Saranta/Kırklar Tekke has at least two chronological phases, dating to the 5th century and the first half of the 6th century. The mosaics of the first phase are of geometrical character and similar motifs can be found in the Mediterranean region. The existing mosaics of the second phase are found in the presbytery and depict animals, birds and one sea creature. Some of the patterns in Agioi Saranta/Kırklar Tekke are unique in Cyprus, and the fact that they have been discovered inland is very interesting in itself. (Excerpt from the author’s abstract.) |
