A comparative analysis of motifs in mosaics from three buildings at Sepphoris – the Nile Festival Building, a private house, and a synagogue – all of which had geometric and figurative mosaics. The author argues that they show iconographic and stylistic similarities which suggest the existence of a local workshop which was perhaps also responsible for mosaics outside the city. He concludes that the mosaics from the Nile Festival Building served as a source of inspiration for the mosaics in the other two buildings. |
