A small Byzantine chapel decorated with mosaics was incorporated into the Ajlun Castle fortification built in the Ayyubid period in 1184. The mosaic is composed of concentric circles with diamond-shaped patterns, fish, and roses arranged in a shape of a cross. An inscription mentioning Aria the deacon is inserted in a triple rectangular frame with birds on each side. |
