The paper reviews the recent research linked to excavation and restoration work at al-Hallabat, specifically the dating and transformations of the Roman-Byzantine fort. The author presents the mosaic pavements uncovered in the court and portico. The first is a simple grid of squares. The second shows interlaced circles with baskets, birds and a calyx with fish. The third part shows instead a cross-like pattern formed by a combination of interlaced circles. The mosaic is dated to the Late Byzantine, Early Umayyad period. |
