The discovery in 1947 of the Roman villa of Torre de Palma (Alentejo, Portugal) resulted in a team of Italian technicians being invited to Portugal to conduct the lifting, consolidation, restoration and reassembling of the mosaics in the Ethnology Museum of Dr. Leite de Vasconcelos, Lisbon. The documents belonging to the Archives of Manuel Heleno, acquired by this Museum in 1998, underscore the commitment of the Museum director, Manuel Heleno, to bring the team from Florence to Portugal, the work achieved, and the legacy left by them.
